Her family described Maddie as colourful, fun and unique, so her Bat Mitzvah had to be all three. The family are based in the Cotswolds, so we brought a wild countryside garden into a stylish London hotel. Hydrangeas, dahlias and peonies ran through the venue on a hot July day. Most guests were of different faiths, so the ceremony was written to explain the significance of a Bat Mitzvah as it went, with detailed booklets at every seat and a custom circular stage so nobody had a poor view.

Mint green was the base, with pops of pink through the florals. Distressed wood in the staging, bar and dance floor, paired with rigged festoon lighting, gave the room a beachside festival edge. The family own a farm and provided their own beef for dinner. Entertainment ran to a five-piece band, henna artists and Pan-n-Ice. The centrepiece was an ice sculpture of one of the family's own cows, working as a vodka luge.
