Garden Grandeur
Location: Old Billingsgate, London
An international couple came to us late for wedding design, at a venue we know well: a large, grand shell that gives you nothing and demands everything. The welcome reception ran around a central bar built around a flowering tree, under a mass of suspended Chinese lanterns lit from within and around.
The dining room mixed long and round tables around a central stage and dance floor. The floral scheme ran on full-sized trees, tall centres, potted plants, herbs and pumpkins. The couple had already booked a large show band and a well-known Middle Eastern pop star, so the stage had to match: centrally positioned, two sets of steps, room for more trees and a full line-up. Set against views over Tower Bridge, the wild garden treatment turned an industrial blank canvas into something nobody expected.
